Is it time to alter the course of your financial fate?

Whether you have mountains of debt, a valley of income, or you just want to turn your quality of life up a notch, most of us have a “next level” we’d love to get to financially.

And no matter your background, your beliefs, or your level of wealth, we all experience feelings of lack sometimes.a

What don’t you have “enough” of in your life right now?

It’s time to root out your feelings of scarcity and create a shift in your energy surrounding money.

Let’s begin with a quick definition of what scarcity actually is…

The term was originally coined by Stephen Covey in his best-selling book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People:

“Most people are deeply scripted in what I call the Scarcity Mentality. They see life as having only so much, as though there were only one pie out there. And if someone were to get a big piece of the pie, it would mean less for everybody else.

The Scarcity Mentality is the zero-sum paradigm of life. People with a Scarcity Mentality have a very difficult time sharing recognition and credit, power or profit – even with those who help in the production. They also have a very hard time being genuinely happy for the success of other people.

The Abundance Mentality, on the other hand, flows out of a deep inner sense of personal worth and security. It is the paradigm that there is plenty out there, and enough to spare for everybody. It results in sharing of prestige, of recognition, of profits, of decision-making. It opens possibilities, options, alternatives, and creativity.”

Find the courage to break through and start experiencing abundance today.

Here are 6 Ways to Break Free From a Scarcity Mentality:

1.    Count your pennies AND your blessings

True abundance starts with appreciating everything you already have right now.

Oprah said, “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”

Gratitude is the single most important ingredient for creating happiness. So start making it a habit to acknowledge the abundant reality in which you already live…

Remember that more than 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 per day. You have access to endless opportunities and countless riches.  You have a roof over your head, access to fresh clean water (in varying degrees of temperature for your enjoyment), plenty of delicious nourishing food, a closet full of clothes… the list goes on.

Let go and allow yourself to experience the abundance that surrounds you at this very moment, and return to it whenever you need the reminder.

2.    Open your eyes (don’t be money shy)

It can be scary to stare your financial truth right in the eyes, especially when you know you aren’t going to like what you see. But where there is no plan, there can be no progress.

When you choose ignorance, you create internal feelings of chaos. Choosing to ignore or procrastinate your financial state takes up a tremendous amount of bandwidth – energetically, emotionally, and creatively – and it stunts your personal growth. Paying attention really does pay off. Stop giving your finances the cold shoulder, so you can start showing up more fully in every area of your life.

3.    Wire yourself some money mantras

Have you unconsciously wired your “money brain” with negativity? Do you play the same old stories in your head every time you are faced with a financial decision? Can something as essential as buying groceries spiral you into a guilt trip?

It sure can, if you’ve programmed yourself to resent any and all expenses.

It’s time to change your financial vibration.  Spending money is a necessary part of life – without our ability to trade we wouldn’t have the means to survive, much less thrive, in this modern world.

So rewire your reactions and vibrate on a higher level with some simple money mantras. One of our favorites is from internet business queen Marie Forleo. Here’s what she says…

“Anytime you part with money, bless it and say – there’s always more where that comes from.”

4.    Appreciate your valuables (and watch their value appreciate)

Ahh the power of entropy… Lifebook Members know it all too well. Everything in the universe wears down eventually, so it’s up to us to prolong the lifespan of our most treasured valuables, and keep our physical environment feeling fresh, energized and cared for. Yet in this fast-paced consumption-centered culture, we’ve somehow lost reverence for our possessions.

This simple realization is one of the greatest secrets to abundance…

You don’t need MORE THINGS to give your life meaning. You need to give MORE MEANING to the things in your life.

When you put energy into the things around you, the energy in your life multiplies. You begin nurturing and caring for your possessions, and as you treat them more valuably, their value grows.

You can do this everywhere in your life…

  • Clean the inside of your car. Keep it organized and shining and feel the difference it makes when you step into it each day.
  • Purge your closet of ALL unused, unappreciated clothes that are taking up space and energy in your life, and organize them to face the same way on their hangers.
  • If you’re eating a cheap dinner, arrange it beautifully on one of your nicest plates, light some candles, and take the time to experience it fully.

Find those consistently nagging areas of your life… the ones in which you always seem to feel strapped for time or patience (tupperware cabinet ring a bell?), and create a beautiful, abundant system around it.

You can TURN ANYTHING INTO LUXURY simply by taking the time, infusing it with positive energy, and cherishing what you have.

5.    Free up some funds for fun

Freedom is the experience of being able to do what we want, when we want, how we want. And while total freedom may not always be realistic, the closer we get, the more abundant we feel.

On the flip side, constant limitation is a huge source for feelings of scarcity. When we feel like we don’t have options or means, we can get frustrated and depressed.

To become truly “successful” we need to find a balance between forging our financial freedom (discipline) and savoring the journey (enjoyment).

Don’t let your quality of life become immobilized by lack of funds.  Set aside a comfortable amount each month to allow for some abundant pleasure.

6.    Don’t be a fool (go to school!)

The best way to stay plugged into inspiration and wisdom, and to keep your mind brimming with abundant energy is to keep a steady stream of educational resources flowing into your life.

Don’t ever stop EDUCATING yourself and IMPLEMENTING the lessons you learn. Learning from those who have walked this path before you will turbo-charge your personal growth, and cut your mistakes in half.
